Immerse yourself into the action-packed trailer of Altered Carbon Season 2, starring Anthony Mackie.
There’s certainly no way you can’t love this. This is the second season of the popular Netflix show, Altered Carbon and Anthony Mackie plays front and center as the leading man of the epic adaptation.
The story follows the neo-noir warrior Takeshi Kovac who takes on the role as a hired gunman. In this instance, doing odd jobs here and there, building his rep. Something more calls to his existence and he’s forced to follow the path that leads him towards calamity.
The initial take on the character, in season 1, faced harsh criticism over many issues. When the series came out in 2018, people complained about the violence against women and the casting choices that steered the series away from the source material. This saw the series having a lacklustre performance and measly response from fans. After the changes, it appears a lot was shuffled around and the series now feels like an entirely different take altogether.
As a storyteller, I have trouble conceiving of a world where I don’t care about everyone
Allison Schakper, the showrunner for the new season, spoke about the approach she used which was different about the show. “As a storyteller, I have trouble conceiving of a world where I don’t care about everyone,” she said. “I love the idea that somebody like Lila the tech [the aforementioned rebel hero, played by Britt Irvin] could play a pivotal role, and you could care about them and they wouldn’t just be a red shirt to die.”
The entire approach is to tie back to the idea of the original material. One of the many things they managed to do was change the entire cast in response to the material. This also included even the people behind the camera. The production team was replaced with mostly people of color and women, which reflected the approach that feels like the series is starting all over again.
The trailer shows just how interesting it’s become and the show is available right now on Netlfix.
